Multi-media CDrom exploring Cambridge Midsummer Fair. Created by the Cambridgeshire Race Equality and Diversity Service, Team for Traveller Education, this exciting educational resource is aimed at Primary and Secondary schools and will enable pupils to take a virtual tour of Midsummer Fair, meeting up with people who organise and run the fair, showmen who bring their rides to the fair and some of the many visitors who come to enjoy the county's annual attraction, one of the largest funfairs in England.
The CDrom explores all aspects of Midsummer Fair, from its historical roots, nearly 800 years ago, to the giant mechanic marvels that are today's exhilarating rides. It features over a hundred photographs and includes video clips, music and sound effects, spoken narration, a graph making feature and a quiz.
It was launched at Midsummer Fair on Friday 25th June at 10am. In attendance were representatives of the Showmen's Guild, the teachers who researched and developed the CDrom and some of the children who contributed their stories and experiences of Cambridge Midsummer Fair.
